Limitless Lifestyle

A Limitless Mindset is not just about the scientific persuit of optimized neurotransmitters or a herculean athletic practice of mental gymnastics. It's also about living a kickass, fun lifestyle and getting more of what you want sooner.

Lifehacking Sobriety: 100 Days of Ethical Hedonism in South America's #1 Vice City

By Jonathan Roseland  Connect

In a radical lifestyle experiment and self control challenge I spent over three and half months completely sober in Medellin, Colombia. In these +100 days I experienced meteoric personal development in multiple dimensions. I also partied with some of the coolest, most interesting and sexiest people I've ever met.

As you can see I was not a monk during my sober trip. I went out and socialized 3-5 times a week with people who were drinking and partying. This article will cover uncommon motives for my sobriety, the lifehacks I employed to keep up with the drunks around me along with the unexpected (and sometimes hilarious) consequences. This article is more for lifehacking socialites, personal development junkies and self experimenters than it is for recovering alcoholics. The ultimate message I hope to communicate is that the sober life can be orders of magnitude more fun than the intoxicated life. There's a lot of references here to Colombian culture and the adventures I've had in this lovely country but I think anyone anywhere in the world considering a sober social life will find a lot of actionable information here.

Medellin, Colombia

Medellin Lifehacking SobrietyRio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires may have bigger parties, but the home town of Pablo Escobar, Medellin has to take the title of #1 vice city in this hemisphere with its:

  • Legalized prostitution
  • Constant festivals
  • Reggaeton fueled nightlife
  • Abundance of high quality, ridiculously affordable cocaine
  • Intoxicatingly beautiful women

How to Breath like a Jedi (Taoist Breathing)

By Jonathan Roseland  Connect

Taoism bookI've been reading this book about Taoism and longevity.

So some people might hear Taoism and say: Isn't that like a religion? Isn't this a branch of Eastern Spirituality?
Yeah, it's kind of a religion, but it's like religion light.
There's no 10 commandments
There's no heaven
There's no hell
Mostly it's a lifestyle system with the goal of living a long, vibrant life with some spiritual under tones.

One of the things that becomes pretty obvious early on in this book is that Taoism is basically like The Force from Star Wars - minus the lightsabers (unfortunately) and the celibacy (fortunately!)

Taoist masters over a very long period of time developed a breathing technique that's very effective, proven and a little counter intuitive so I think it's appropriate to say that this is how a Jedi would breath.

In principle, breathing is a science, but in practice it is an art. (3119-3120)

Hour 1: The Empire Building Habit

By Jonathan Roseland  Connect

Empire Building

The 1st working hour of your day is 100% committed towards building your empire without distraction.

Building your empire means working for yourself, on the projects that are ultimately going to reward you with freedom. For a lot of us this means working on our small businesses, developing our own brands, products, systems and marketing.

  • If you are a career professional it could mean developing your hard skill sets.
  • If you are a writer it means turning blank white pages into art.
  • If you are an athlete it means training, hitting the gym or getting coaching.

Lifehacking Your Internal Dialog: Use Silly Voices

By Jonathan Roseland  Connect

This 35 minute video explains, exhaustively and hilariously, the personal development benefits of using silly voices in your internal dialog. To summarize: everyone has an internal dialog that they use to make sense of their experiences, relationships and emotions, we can gain more mastery of our thoughts and actions by substituting silly voices or humorous character archetypes. This is a lot times significantly more effective than 'reframing' or just trying to 'think positively'.

As you can see in the video it's also A LOT of fun! Possibly more importantly it instantly reframes negative thought patterns into humorous, jovial lines of thought that you can laugh at.

Hardwork X Stress Management X Passion for Processes X Time = Peak Experiences

By Jonathan Roseland  Connect

PeakExpierencesIn the video below Tyler of RSD, proposes that there are two different kinds of people in the world:

  1. Peak Experience Junkies, like Tyler, who need to travel to awesome places, eat at amazing restaurants, have the most interesting friends, hang out at the hottest nightclubs, have a ridiculous sex life and accomplish big goals in business to enjoy life.
  2. Amusement Junkies, those who are happy with a life full of things like watching TV, drinking beer, smoking marijuana, hanging out with their family, playing video games, etc.

I don't think you are born one way or another, the biggest variable is how people manage their stress. Everyone has the potential to be a Peak Experience Junkie. Why wouldn't you want to be one? Consider this your invite to the Peak Experience Junkie Club!

Tyler talks a lot in his videos about:

  • Exercise
  •  Mediation
  •  Proper Diet
  •  Mindset Management
  •  Introspection
  •  Reading Books

He is doing a text book job of managing his stress and as a result he has the energy to work really hard. Compare this to the person who isn't managing their stress like Tyler. They need the 2 hours of TV a day, the marijuana, the video games or whatever to deal with their stress.

Tyler uses sexual experiences as (sometimes vulgar - You've been warned!) examples but this PG-13 Youtube is worth a watch for anyone seeking Peak Experiences.
