Biohacker Review: Makes the master antioxidant is TASTY!

Youth & Earth has really made anti-aging tantalizing for my sweet tooth with its mango-flavored high-absorption liposomal Glutathione.

Lately, I've been boozing just a bit on the regular, usually a glass of red wine while I enjoy dinner with my wife. After going off the silly sauce for three months, I'm indulging a bit as an ethical hedonist. A vice I justify by taking a teaspoon of this silky-smooth tasty Glutathione solution - which does keep hangovers at bay (and I am getting to the age where more than just a little booze will leave me dragging the next morning).

Other than that I'm not sure what subjective effects I can attribute to Glutathione; it's not really a Nootropic that's going to have a noticeable energizing effect. I do a lot to optimize my health and brainpower; eat organic, fast, take cold showers, sleep hack, do weight lifting, and exercise - so some anti-aging nutrients like this just don't move the dial subjectively for me that much.

Overview of recent Glutathione science

Since 2021 there have been over 10 human clinical trials evaluating Glutathione. I'll summarize a few of the conclusions coming out of the recent science...

A 2021 European clinical trial of twenty obese men found that three weeks of Glutathione supplementation in a dosage of 1000 milligrams improved whole body insulin sensitivity. Insulin sensitivity is a sort of a big deal when it comes to anti-aging; you'll have an easier time losing weight if you need to lose weight and it's highly correlated with COVID case severity and survivability.

Two recent American studies evaluated its immune properties in combating Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium bovis infections in type-2 Diabetics.

An earlier American clinical trial gave between 500 - 1000 milligrams to participants for four weeks and its conclusion suggests that it's an immune hack...

Collectively, these preliminary findings support the effectiveness of daily liposomal GSH administration at elevating stores of GSH and impacting the immune function and levels of oxidative stress.

Interestingly, the dosage didn't make much of a difference in the resulting immune enhancement, the lower dose had (about) the same effect as the higher dose, which is good news because 1000 milligrams of Glutathione a day would get pricey! Although, the study was a small one and it was funded by a supplement company.

Glutathione American study 2018

Interestingly, two Asian clinical trials focused on Glutathione's skin-whitening effects. That's right, it may make you whhhiter, according to a placebo-controlled 46-participant Indonesian study.

This study showed that topical and oral glutathione were effective skin-lightening agents.

A related clinical trial of 124 Thai women noted that:

The daily oral administration of 500 mg L-Cystine and 250 mg L-Glutathione during 12 weeks was a safe treatment to effectively lighten the skin and reduce the size of facial dark spots of Asian women.

So for the vain (and aspirationally whiter) biohackers out there, if you have some dark skin spots that you want to clear up: oral L-Cystine and Glutathione, along with Glutathione cream for 8-12 weeks.

Something that might shock a lot of people living in America or other "first world countries" (who have limited experience with other cultures) is learning that in many cultures having whiter skin is actually a status symbol. In many Asian and even Latin cultures, people want to be whiter, especially women, and these recent studies indicate that Glutathione is a good option for them.

And several meta-analysis papers have been published in the last 12 months but none of them focused on supplementing Glutathione.

Youth & EarthIf you're a European biohacker who doesn't live in the UK, do yourself a favor and bookmark YouthAndEarth.com as they are an anti-aging supplement source that has figured out shipping across the continent. My Youth & Earth package took about 10 days to get from London, England to my doorstep in Bulgaria with zero fees or annoying import office paperwork. As a biohacker, I love supplements but dealing with the imports office is the bain of my existence - currently, I'm waiting on a delivery from another company in the UK that I placed 5-months ago! It makes me so angry that I need to go meditate. I'm not sure how Youth & Earth manages to circumnavigate the bureaucratic hell of the imports office, but they do which I'm very thankful for!
