What is Phosphatidylserine?

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a phospholipid that is a major component of cell membranes, making it a highly valuable nutrient for supporting cognitive function. Without sufficient levels of phosphatidylserine, brain cells may not transmit nerve impulses properly.

Phosphatidylserine is highly unstable and therefore prone to degradation. To overcome the issue of phosphatidylserine stability, enter Smart PS™ — an exclusive fluid dispersion of phosphatidylserine material, provided as finished dosage softgels, which has enviable stability. Shelf-life studies on Smart PS™ found that even after 24 months, the material showed absolutely no degradation. Smart PS™ Softgel Capsules are soy-derived.

Smart PS™ enhanced-stability phosphatidylserine softgels overcome the problem of phosphatidylserine degradation for maximum brain benefits. Smart PS™ finished dosage softgels feature an exclusive fluid dispersion phosphatidylserine material that has significantly enhanced stability for maximum brain benefits.

Phosphatidylserine Benefits and Uses

- Promotes cognitive function
- Supports feelings of well being
- Supports energy
- Promotes healthy sleep habits

Phosphatidylserine vs Phosphatidylcholine

As phospholipids, both Phosphatidylserine (PS) and Phosphatidylcholine (PC) are major components of cell membranes. However, unlike phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylcholine has very limited value in improving mental function. Why? Weak bioavailability. As a nutritional supplement, Phosphatidylcholine is hoarded by the liver. As a result, hardly any of it actually makes it to the brain. Phosphatidylserine, on the other hand, is a modified form of phosphatidylcholine that does get to the brain, making it a highly valuable nutrient for enhancing cognitive function. Phosphatidylserine benefits may promote cognitive function, support energy, promote feelings of well being, and healthy sleep habits. However, phosphatidylserine sleep benefits have only been found in limited clinical trials.

What is Phosphatidylcholine?

Phosphatidylcholine is a phospholipid with two fatty acids bound to a glycerol backbone and are a major component of cell membranes. It is found in the highest concentrations within the liver and the brain. Phosphatidylcholine benefits are derived from the fact that it is a choline source and that a phosphatidylcholine supplement may enhance the production of acetylcholine in neurons, which ultimately promotes cognitive function. Yet, Phosphatidylcholine benefits are hard to achieve due to its poor bioavailability. Phosphatidylcholine benefits were noted in a trial aiming to reduce localized fat relative to baseline data. However this was only achieved through injection and results were inconsistent. Membrane mediated cell signaling and phosphatidylcholine transfer protein activation is believed to be the bulk of phosphatidylcholine function.

Fortunately, Phosphatidylcholine and Phosphatidylserine benefits can be easily reaped with Smart PS™ softgels. Phosphatidylserine is a modified form of Phosphatidylcholine that actually reaches the brain. Pharmacokinetic studies show that supplemental Phosphatidylserine easily crosses the blood-brain-barrier, making it a highly valuable nutrient for promoting cognitive function.

Research in Animals and in Humans has shown that Phosphatidylserine (PS) May:

- Support mood
- Support cognitive function
- Enhance athletic performance and recovery

Sulbutiamine is a derivative of Thiamine (Vitamin B1) that was first synthesized in Japan in the 1950s.

May reduce fatigue (ref)*
May help with recovery after illness (ref)*
Sulbutiamine is a subject of interest in the medical community, but thus far, there has not been a large amount of research or trials conducted with humans, except for some studies referenced above.*

The following are examples of dynamics associated with Sulbutiamine through the animal model and may not be representative of the effects in the human body:

Supports memory (in mice) (ref)*
May improve recognition (in rats) (ref)*
May promote anti-oxidant activity (in vitro) (ref)*

Biohacker ReviewNot going to replace Phenibut!

Day 1

I did 200 milligrams after lunch. I suspect Sulbutiamine may become one of my least favorite white powders; it sticks to my fingers when I open the bag, I licked my fingers and the grotesque taste of it brought on a little coughing spell. I took it sublingually and washed it down with no aftertaste. There was no discernible Nootropic effect, in fact, I ended up being a bit under-motivated throughout the day.

Theacrine by Double Wood

Nootropics & Anti-Aging

Theacrine is an energy and focus-boosting supplement that works in a similar way to caffeine.

Its primary advantage is that a tolerance to its effects builds at a much slower pace. While a caffeine tolerance begins to set in after only a few days of use, studies have shown no formation in tolerance to Theacrine even after a week of daily use.

Benefits

  • ENHANCE ENERGY - Theacrine provides a noticable boost to mental and physical energy similar to that of caffeine.
  • IMPROVE FOCUS AND MOTIVATION - Studies have shown that Theacrine increases one's motivation and ability to concentrate.
  • LOW TOLERANCE - Studies have shown no tolerance forming to Theacrine even after weeks of daily use.
  • MADE IN USA - This nootropic is manufactured right here in the USA, using high quality, pure, Theacrine

Recommended Dosage

If you've never used Theacrine before, we recommend starting with a dosage of one 100 mg capsule taken in the morning. If necessary, increase this dose to 200 mg. It is not recommended to exceed 400 mg of Theacrine in one day.

Theacrine Side Effects

Theacrine's properties are very similar to caffeine, and it's side effects are no exception. When taken at moderate to high doses nervousness, restlessness, nausea, and increased heart rate are all potential side effects.

Biohacker ReviewA happiness-hacking antidepressant (but not for stoics)

The anecdotal reports of Tianeptine led me to believe that it's an antidepressant with cumulative effects. So I've been taking two little capsules of Tianeptine a day and it's a pretty subtle effect but I think I like it, although I didn't experience any pronounced cumulative effects.

It adds a background hum of happiness. The best way I can describe it is kind of like rolling; if you've ever done good ecstasy or MDMA and you just had this feeling of inner happiness and satisfaction. It's like that, although not to such an intense degree minus the potent pro-social effects of MDMA. I didn't find myself being impetuously affectionate with everyone. The effect half-life seems a little short, I notice a subtle optimism for about 3-4 hours after dosing.

Uridine by Double Wood

Nootropics & Anti-Aging

Uridine Monophosphate is an important building block used to create RNA, and increases synthesis of brain phosphatidylcholine.

Studies have shown it may enhance the formation of synaptic connections, increase cholinergic brain function, and upregulate dopamine receptors.

When taken as a supplement it supports cognitive function and brain health.
