7 Creativity Biohacks

I'm not a doctor, medical professional, or trained therapist. I'm a researcher and pragmatic biohacking practitioner exercising free speech to share evidence as I find it. I make no claims. Please practice skepticism and rational critical thinking. You should consult a professional about any serious decisions that you might make about your health. Creativity is what makes me a dangerous man.
Creativity is how we liberate ourselves from the pattern of the past. It's how we break through glass ceilings in our personal and professional lives. It's how we leave a mark on culture. It's the key ingredient in the better storytelling that the world badly needs to galvanize toward a more utopian future. It's what we desperately need to build and preserve wealth in the insidious economy of modernity. And human creativity is, I might argue, our only hope of staying ahead of AI as it devours more and more of the digital world.
Creativity is a skill that can be honed and multiplied by Biohacking, so, as I put the finishing touches on my fourth book (the sequel to Hourglass - expect it out in Q4), I had the opportunity to do a short presentation and Q&A on Biohacking Creativity at an event here in Sofia..
Here's an interesting factoid: In Greek mythology, Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory, was the mother of the Muses. Creativity is downstream from memory. And some of you might be saying, "I have a crappy memory!" That's probably because you are using it incorrectly. When you use your memory correctly, your powers of creativity will be multiplied. We'll circle back to that!
But first, a little about me - For over 14 years, I've been on an obsessive quest to find real-life NZT-48 - the "limitless" drug. I've trialed over 200 smart drugs and Nootropics while studying the science of human performance enhancement and self-experimenting relentlessly with a bunch of weird and wacky personal development things. I've documented this in hundreds of articles and videos on my website LimitlessMindset.com and in my books.
After trying +200 Smart Drugs, I've found a "Stack" (a combination), this is the "pharmacological dream team" for creativity: Nicotine, Caffeine, and L-Theanine.
1) Nicotine is the best creativity smart drug: It’s no coincidence that Ayn Rand, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Tolkien, and many other great novelists were voracious smokers. Of course, don't smoke or vape. I've been taking Nicotine for almost a decade now as a gum, lozenge, or in a USP solution. This is actually a way less addictive form; I cycle on and off Nicotine a few times a year, as I like to reset my tolerance to it to maximize the creative bang for the buck, as I'm diving back into a new creative project.
2) Caffeine has synergies with Nicotine and mitigates some of its potential negatives.
3) L-Theanine is the active ingredient in green tea. It delivers relaxation without sedation, quieting that judgmental part of the mind that gets in the way of creativity.
Next, Flowstate - you've heard of this. We get a lot more creative while in flow. Flowstate is stimulated by Skill/Challenge/Immediate feedback. So in your creative time, intentionally push yourself to the edge of your competence. The pharmacological dream team we discussed earlier also helps. And, I'll give you a hack for flowstate: extreme athletes (the guys in wingsuits) often credit their peak performance to flowstate. This is because of Skill/Challenge/Immediate feedback, and in the case of the wingsuit guys, the visceral sensation of gravity powerfully stimulates flowstate. Fortunately, you don't have to risk your life, though, because you can simulate gravity with a VR headset while playing a fast-paced, running, gunning, jumping, or flying game. Play that for 15 minutes, then dive into a creative project.
Another way to get into flow is by stimulating and entraining an alpha or theta brainwave state. I do this every day with binaural beats. And - let's make this one weirder - I will entrain my brain with theta, alpha, or gamma by using a PEMF device on my head.
Your dreams (when you remember them) are wildly creative, right? I'm sure you've heard of Lucid Dreaming. It's like Inception in real life, and there's a bunch of hacks for it - you need to get in the habit of "reality testing." But dreams are only useful as a creativity scratchpad if you actually remember them. So you need to journal your lucid dreams. The best way to do this is with a voice recorder app. I usually don't recommend sleeping with your phone, but if you record your dreams as soon as you have them, you'll get some pretty wild stuff: Mine include being a dictator of an underwater society, speed dating grandmas, and there was an "encounter" with Lara Croft from Tomb Raider.
Let's get weirder. With a Tantric practice, men can channel their sexual energy into creativity. Gents: You must retain your "male essence" for 2-3 weeks, and you'll get a lot more creative. To take this to the next level and make it more fun, look up "Tantric Self Cultivation" and the "Cool Draw." But I'll share no more details to keep this PG-13. Finally, I told you that Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory, was the mother of the Muses. So practice Mnemonics, the ancient art of training memory, because "even average memories are remarkably powerful when used properly." And I'll give you a quick example: you can remember the number 91852719521639092112 if you can visualize "a beautiful naked blond jumps up and down."
That's an example of phonetic number pegging, which you can learn from books like Moonwalking With Einstein. Mnemonics are fun, work better if you have a dirty mind, and are a major upgrade for your creativity!
