I'm not a doctor, medical professional, or trained therapist. I'm a researcher and pragmatic biohacking practitioner exercising free speech to share evidence as I find it. I make no claims. Please practice skepticism and rational critical thinking. You should consult a professional about any serious decisions that you might make about your health. Red Light Therapy
What I love about my FlexBeam is how reliably it works (especially compared to some other biohacking tech I've used), you just plug it in, switch it on and it works! No Bluetooth misconnections, no app, and no updates that need to be installed. We've accidentally dropped the thing THREE times now and it still works like new. It has a 50,000 hour-lifetime so I just use it to illuminate my room in the evenings. The health and anti-aging benefits of red light therapy are wide-ranging and well-studied but I'll mention just one here - falling asleep FAST and slumbering deeply after shining it on my back for 10 minutes while cuddling with Mrs. Roseland.
If all that sounds awesome, pick up the The FlexBeam, it works as a handheld and runs about $350 (with the coupon code extra10 - that works till Dec 15), compare it to the Joovv Go 2.0 which runs $545! Making it an affordable holiday gift for us non-millionaires.
These lamps are especially appropriate illumination for Christmas time as they'll flood any room with the most beautiful, brilliant red light you'll ever see. It's a 36-watt lamp that projects the 620nm and 670nm wavelengths that have been shown to have numerous benefits in clinical trials.
IC Pad from Infopathy
IC stands for infoceutical - meaning non-pharmacological, side-effect-free downloadable derivatives of supplements, medicine, and drugs. The IC Pad takes advantage of the phenomenon of water memory - imprinting infoceuticals on water via quantum collocation and electromagnetism using this device...
Infocueticals typically have 1/3 or half the effect of the actual medicine being imprinted, so if you spend much money on supplements monthly you'll see how this $200 device pays for itself. The IC Pad would be an especially novel addition to holiday merrymaking, people won't believe it until you make them a Happy Water or Psilocybin infoceutical. If you're skeptical of Infopathy that's understandable, it's a game-changing application of a little-known scientific phenomenon. But I'd urge you to evaluate the scientific evidence (presented in my biohacker review) that downloadable medicine is no longer science fiction...
Analemma Water Wand
If you've got about $150 to drop on someone a little wu wu, they'll love this water-hacking tool. It transforms regular water into its supercharged, full-spectrum, coherent state, which surprisingly, is scientifically validated with a human GlycanAge study showing up to 12 years of biological age revitalization after 3 months of daily use and other meaningful evidence, listen to this mindblowing interview. Swirling it in a glass of water for 30 seconds does noticeably change the water - it will sip a little smoother (sure to surprise skeptics!) It's one of the more aesthetically pleasing biohacks I've gotten my hands on!
If those devices are a little out of your budget and you've got readers in your life, some book recommendations...
Glucose Revolution: The Life-Changing Power of Balancing Your Blood Sugar - Got someone in your family struggling to lose weight? Glucose diet hacking is one of the most effective (yet often overlooked) ways to lose weight and fix insulin resistance. This surprisingly easy-to-read book breaks down the most recent science and actionable glucose management hacks for breakthroughs in weight loss and health.
Boundless - Ben Greenfield's encyclopedic +1000-page magnum opus on total optimization of mind, body, and spirit. You're probably not going to read the whole thing cover to cover as I did, but it's well worth picking up to read individual chapters addressing the health area (sleep, sex, longevity, exercise, brainpower, etc) that you want to work on. The hardcover edition is pricier but would make a literally and figuratively weighty contribution to the library of any voracious reader.
Don't Stick Your Dick in a Blender - If you've got a single dude (frustrated with his love life and online dating) on your buying list he really should read my deep-dive (and deeply pragmatic) manifesto for the modern man on game, personal growth, relationships, and seduction. Get him the book (includes the 18-hour audiobook, if he prefers to listen) and don't be surprised if he gets a nice girlfriend next year!
Upgrade by Blake Crouch - I'm currently in the middle of this thrilling novel that Biohackers will love. It's An Immersive, Mind-Bending Thriller From The Author of Dark Matter. It features a lot of fascinating emerging genetic science set in a dystopian future with a main character that will remind you of Eddie in the classic movie, Limitless.
Speaking of genetics...
Personal Genotyping
In my view, the real value in a personalized genetic report is the insight into the potential health disasters looming in your future, but it will also let you know things like which types of supplements will be a total waste of money for you. It's an invaluable report that one can turn to for the rest of natural life for insight into living better. Sequencing.com's $600 Whole Genome Sequencing Bundle is a pretty great value; it provides the full raw data from all +30,000 genes along with a unique report that provides an informative snapshot of important longevity biomarkers.
Biohack the boozing!
Tis' the season to raise our glasses with friends and family! The good news is that the resulting hangovers can be hacked. Consider the following "hangover hacks" as stocking stuffers (or just bring them to holiday dinner parties!) People will love you for saving them and a hangover and will be curious about the supplements.
One of the more pharmacologically interesting and effective hangover hacks I've tried is Dihydromyricetin (DHM), it's been widely studied (+200 papers on Pubmed). It has the curious effect of sobering you up when 300 - 900 milligrams are taken after a few drinks. You have to try it to believe it!
Activated Charcoal hacks your hangover by cleaning up toxins lingering in your system. Funnily, chewing up charcoal tablets will turn your mouth black but, don't worry, it won't stain your teeth. Just wash down the tablets with water.
Bulletproof offers fancy coconut charcoal - yes, coconuts are so healthy that even consuming burned coconut shells is good for you. If not, you can buy cheap activated charcoal at almost any pharmacy.
Speaking of boozing...
You're going to be tipping back some vino and raising glasses to a prosperous new year, so why not bring a bottle of biodynamic wine? Red wine isn't actually "healthy" but organic, biodynamic wine is a lot less likely to gift you a hangover the morning after. Pick some up from FitVine Wine or Dry Farm Wines, both based in California, and enjoy!
Bulletproof Coffee
Coffee is a pretty important part of the holidays, so why not share a delicious and nutritious Bulletproof-style coffee with those who you gather with around the tree? Be sure to add some C8 MCT oil to the coffee for extra ketogenic cheer.
Blue-Blockers - Orange-Tinted Glasses
The perfect stocking stuffer for the stylish sleep hacker in your life! Looking at TVs, smartphone or tablet screens, and even fluorescent lighting after dark can wreak havoc on circadian rhythm. Wearing orange-tinted glasses for the last 3 hours of the day blocks out the spectrum of the light that prevents deep restorative sleep. The Mercedes of blue blockers are Swannies by Swanwick.
But they are pricey, any orange-tinted glasses will enhance sleep. Speaking of sleep hacking...
Remee Lucid Dreaming Mask
Remember the movie Inception? The Remee mask employs cutting-edge technology to enable an Inception-like lucid dreaming state every night. This customizable and comfortable sleeping mask detects when the brain goes into REM sleep and notifies your unconscious mind with subtly flashing red lights that will show up in your dreams. This enables one to become an architect of every aspect of their dreams. With lucid dreaming, you can fly, have a lightsaber battle, drive a race car, travel to the center of the earth, or even make love to your favorite movie star!
A few digital gifts for lifehackers and biohackers...
Dual N-Back Pro - This is the one brain training task that is actually demonstrated to increase intelligence and working memory outside of the brain game - it has transfer effects to real-world problem-solving and short-term memory.
SuperMemo - This flashcard app/web app is a must-have for students, language learners, and anybody aspiring to better memory. The algorithm-driven SuperMemo method of Spaced Repetition prompts you to review the knowledge you are acquiring at the time when you are closest to forgetting it.
Headspace membership - Meditation is a cornerstone habit of the highest-performing lifehackers (and those who simply want to remain happy and sane). But it can be tricky to learn and habituate, the Headspace app with its excellent guided meditation track series has helped millions start (and keep) meditating.
Brain.FM - This app delivers stimulating and soothing holo-sync tunes to your earbuds - it's "Nootropic music" for focus, mindfulness, relaxation, and sleep.
When I really need to focus and get creative I listen to Brain.FM and I suggest you do the same! Listen for free here.
Visomitin - For Free Radical Free Vision
A little bottle or two of these (very affordable) Mitochondrial antioxidant eyedrops is a great idea for gamers, writers, and really all IT geeks who spend way too much time staring at glowing screens.
Visomitin feels mostly like normal eye drops, it doesn't have an immediate effect of improving vision but it did make my eyes feel better after a long day of working; staring at my computer screen. My wife would often remind me to take it if my eyes were a bit red and strained which would restore my vision a bit and keep my eyes from getting too dry.
Aromatherapy Diffuser
A product that will set the holiday ambiance, an aromatherapy diffuser. Just add a little splash of essential oils, hit diffuse, and the room will shortly smell AMAZING. Organic Aromas recommends Peppermint, Pine, Frankincense, or Myrrh for Christmassy scents.
I have this awesome Bitcoin-emblazed diffuser from Organic Aromas. If you've got someone crypto-obsessed to buy for, you can be assured that they'll be displaying this diffuser prominently for a long time to come! Speaking of crypto...
Nootropics
Of course, biohackers would love to just receive Nootropics from Santa...
Nootopia - These guys offer three creatively named and packaged Nootropic stacks collections that are, in a word, EPIC. Ranging in price from $79 to $230, these collections could keep you cognitively enhanced for months. I appreciate the thoughtfulness that's clearly gone into Nootopia - from the cool black box it comes in to the biohacking manifesto booklet it contains.
Blue Cannatine - This is one of the more innovative ways I've seen to take Nicotine. You hold these blue troches under your tongue for direct absorption along with a dose of caffeine and Methylene Blue, two of my favorite Nootropic molecules that share powerful synergies with Nicotine. Around the internet, Biohackers speak in some pretty grandiose terms about the powers of cognition and creativity that these troches unleash. These would be fun to share at Christmas parties!
I hope you find this gift guide helpful and even if this is a bit of a lean holiday season for you - as it is for many people - I wish you the mindfulness to stay focused on all that you have to be grateful for.
As you might imagine, I get paid small reasonable commissions if you order some of these products via the links here (thanks for supporting Limitless Mindset!), but not all of them. A few are just things that I think would make great gifts.
If you've got someone you care about in need of some insight and direction in their lifehacking/biohacking goals, spend over $150 on them via our recommended vendors here, and they'll be eligible for a free biohacking consultation with me and membership in our exclusive community, the Limitless Mindset Secret Society.
